We’re heartbroken to share that Knick Knack has pa We’re heartbroken to share that Knick Knack has passed away. 💔🌈⁠ ⁠ Knick Knack, a sweet senior, joined the Tree House family from Chicago Animal Care and Control in October, and from the beginning, we were committed to giving this sweet boy the care he needed. He faced several health challenges, including heart disease, anemia, dental, and kidney disease, and spent much of his time healing and building strength in a loving home with his resilient foster caregiver, Jan. ⁠ ⁠ Jan described the ginger gentleman as a quiet, easygoing companion who loved to follow his human. After a much-needed dental procedure relieved his oral pain, Knick Knack became noticeably brighter and more comfortable—his personality shining through. ☀️⁠ ⁠ Later, Knick Knack charmed guests at our Cat Café, climbing onto laps and soaking up sunlight between naps. That’s how we’ll remember him: warm, content, and surrounded by love.⁠ ⁠ Earlier this week, despite ongoing treatment, Knick Knack’s kidney disease progressed, and we made the compassionate decision to say goodbye. Jan returned to be by his side, and our veterinarian, Dr. Foose, shared, “We’re grateful to everyone who helped give Knick Knack comfort and a month free of dental pain at the twilight of his life.” 🌆⁠ ⁠ In memory of Knick Knack, we remain committed to meeting every cat where they are, offering comfort, respect, and thoughtful care—whatever the outcome of their journey. 🐾

Stepping up to the plate is Ernie Banks! ⚾️⁠ ⁠ For Stepping up to the plate is Ernie Banks! ⚾️⁠ ⁠ Formerly known as Spoof, Banks was traded this offseason from Tree House to his new home. Despite some concerns from his new clubhouse (the hitting coach has been allergic to cats his whole life, but has made solid progress with support from the team trainer), Banks passed his physical with flying colors and has been cleared to play this season. 🧢⁠ ⁠ Just like Chicago’s own Mr. Sunshine, Banks was an immediate culture fit in the clubhouse. He greeted his new teammates, even the two young rookies, with an eagerness to play. He’s not intimidated by the roar of the ballpark or the shenanigans in the locker room. In fact, he’s settled right in to the noise and lights of the big leagues. 💞⁠ ⁠ After a long day of batting practice, Banks knows how to rest and recover on the couch or the cat tree. Even when he’s recharging, he keeps an eye out for the latest scouting report on the neighborhood from his window perch.⁠ ⁠ Baseball season is on deck, and Banks is ready to knock it out of the park with his new team! 🤩

He's a true yapper, and he's been known to join in on a sing-along with his adopters! 🎶⁠ ⁠ But when it's time to lock in for a work-from-home day with his pawrents, Bumi has nailed down the perfect routine.⁠ ⁠ 9 am: nap on mom's desk with a blankie 💤⁠ 12 pm: lunchtime snack 🐟⁠ 2 pm: visit dad's office and lounge in the hammock 😌⁠ 5 pm: make sure everyone clocks out on time ⏱️⁠ 7 pm: dinner, playtime, and a good brushing 🐁⁠ And repeat! It’s been a few months since sweet Erickson settle It’s been a few months since sweet Erickson settled into her foster home, where she’s been patiently waiting for an adoptive family. 🧡⁠ ⁠ Some cats, like Erickson, can feel overwhelmed by loud city sounds and lots of new faces. In foster care, she’s had the gift of time—time to decompress, feel safe, and come out of her shell at her own pace ⌚️🐾⁠ ⁠ She’s even made a best friend: William, the resident cat! The two spend their days exploring the house, playing, and keeping each other company.
