We are honored to have a dedicated group of professionals, who volunteer their time and expertise:
Dr. Colleen Currigan, President, is the founder and owner of Cat Hospital of Chicago. Colleen graduated with her undergraduate degree in Sociology from St. Mary's College/Notre Dame, Indiana. She is a 1985 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Colleen has practiced for 23 years exclusively with cats in the Chicagoland area, including from 1993-1998 with her own feline homecare practice. She is an active member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, American Veterinary Medical Association, Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association.
Robert M. Marovich, Vice President, has been involved with Tree House since 1999, when he acted as a fundraising consultant for us. Since then, he has supported Tree House in many ways, and served as President of the Board from 2008 to 2010. He has two cats, and is currently serviing as the Chair of the Fundraising Committee for Tree House.
Edgar Scott Rife, III, Secretary, has been in the real estate industry for over 30 years, and is currently a residential realtor for Prudential Rubloff in Chicago. Scott also serves on the Board for Realtors to the Rescue, a local animal rescue group comprised of local real estate professionals. Scott has been involved with Tree House for nearly 15 years, and he lives in Chicago with his best friend, a beautiful rescued stray cat named Starette.
Barry T. Fulk, Director, joined the Tree House Board in 2014. He and his wife Bobbi Ann have been supporters of Tree House for many years, and have adopted numerous Tree House cats as well. Barry is an information technology expert and consultant, and has been instrumental in identifying the IT needs for Tree House and in the technology planning for the new facility. Barry is also the Chair of the Tree House Events Committee.
Steve Homrich, Director, is a Business Banker with MB Financial Bank in Chicago. He has experience as a relationship manager and lender in the emerging middle market segment and works primarily with Not-for-Profits, Schools, Professional Service Industry and manufacturers. Steve also serves on the board for the Chicago Childrens Theatre as well as for the West Central Association (Chamber of Commerce) in the Treasurer role. Steve lives in Chicago with his wife, Donna, and his Seal Point Siamese named Boru.
Ann Johnson, Director, rejoined the Tree House Board in June of 2016. She has been the Executive Assistant to the Chairman of Lettuce Entertain You for 22 years, and has been a supporter of Tree House since 2011 when she adopted sweet Fletcher, who lives with her and two other darling rescue cats, Lulu and Tilda.
Christopher E. Ott, Director, is a senior manager with Gurtz Electric Company in the northern suburbs. Chris and his wife Maura have supported Tree House for many years, and Chris became more involved through a TNR project he conducted near his home in northern Chicago. Chris joined the Tree House Board in 2009.
Coree Smith, Director, is a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. She counsels a wide variety of clients in all aspects of complex real estate transactions. She has particular experience in mortgage and mezzanine financing, having represented both lenders and borrowers in various acquisition, predevelopment and construction loan transactions involving a variety of assets, including retail, mixed-use, office, industrial and multifamily properties. She also represents hospitality clients in acquisitions, dispositions, financings and resort management arrangements, both foreign and domestic. Finally, Coree represents corporate, venture capital and other private equity clients in acquisitions and dispositions of real property and debt, real estate joint ventures, bankruptcies, restructurings, mergers, acquisitions and dispositions involving portfolio companies and their real estate assets.
