Bumi, now short for Boombox, lives up to his new name by filling his home with chatter and meows. He's a true yapper, and he's been known to join in on a sing-along with his adopters! 🎶

But when it's time to lock in for a work-from-home day with his pawrents, Bumi has nailed down the perfect routine.

9 am: nap on mom's desk with a blankie 💤
12 pm: lunchtime snack 🐟
2 pm: visit dad's office and lounge in the hammock 😌
5 pm: make sure everyone clocks out on time ⏱️
7 pm: dinner, playtime, and a good brushing 🐁
And repeat! (Oh, the life of a cat.) 😸

As an FeLV+* kitty, Bumi's days as a Cat Cafe resident gave him plenty of experience in charming friends with his quirks and snuggling with every visitor he greets in his new home. A sweet and silly cat, Bumi has turned up the volume and love for his new family. 💓

It’s been a few months since sweet Erickson settle It’s been a few months since sweet Erickson settled into her foster home, where she’s been patiently waiting for an adoptive family. 🧡

Some cats, like Erickson, can feel overwhelmed by loud city sounds and lots of new faces. In foster care, she’s had the gift of time—time to decompress, feel safe, and come out of her shell at her own pace ⌚️🐾

She’s even made a best friend: William, the resident cat! The two spend their days exploring the house, playing, and keeping each other company. Erickson also enjoys her favorite treats (cream cheese and Churu, of course 😋), plays with the interactive robot toys she received for the holidays, and has grown into a kitty who happily leans in for pets once she bonds with you.

We can’t wait to share more about this gentle girl—and help her find the loving home she’s been waiting for. 💕

She came to us from Chicago Animal Care and Control, received dental work and extra TLC for her kidney and eye health in foster care, and is now back on our adoption floor—feeling better, extra chatty, and ready to cuddle. If Illinois has cat labor laws, we may need to con If Illinois has cat labor laws, we may need to confess… Sandy’s been working overtime at the biscuit factory. 🍪

Ever wonder why cats “knead” AKA make biscuits (with occasional claws 😅)? It’s a sign they feel safe, cozy, and happy. Some knead blankets, some bake on your lap… and some—like Sandy—make air biscuits. 🐾
It’s an instinct from kittenhood, when they kneaded their moms for milk 🍼 Now Sandy practices his craft from his favorite chair, surrounded by his favorite humans.

Ready to hire a full-time baker for your home? Sandy’s accepting new coworkers. 🏡🐱

Arthur, Dutch, and Mochi are a trio of Tree House alums who found each other in the same loving home last year. Since joining forces, they’ve brought triple the fun and cuddles into their family. 3️⃣✖️

Arthur, formerly known as Hatsuaki, was first adopted on his own. A few months later, Dutch and Mochi, formerly known as Roses and Sweets, were brought home by the same adopter. At Tree House, this #BetterTogether pair was nervous and fearful around humans, but they always brought out the playful side in one another. And with Arthur ready to show his new siblings the ropes, their home was soon filled with happy cats.

As you can see, the trio is now inseparable! Arthur loves chasing a feather or a mouse toy, excitedly showing off tricks, and meowing for attention. Dutch loves people watching, being held like a baby, and burying his face in for snuggles. Mochi may still be shy, but she comes alive during playtime or when she hears the crinkle of a treat bag.

One of the best ways to help shy cats come out of their shell and gain confidence is to give them a feline friend. You could even call it ✨ the power of friendship. ✨

Right after the New Year, this ginger boy had a much-needed dental extraction to relieve the mouth pain he’d been living with. His foster parent, Jan, shared:
“The change in him since his dental work has been nothing short of remarkable. He’s a completely different cat—still affectionate, but now upbeat instead of the somber mood he had while his mouth was in pain.”✨

Dental disease is the most common and most painful condition we treat at Tree House Humane Society, and it can significantly impact a cat's happiness. When you free them from constant pain, you open the door to comfort and connection!

Way to go, Knick Knack! 🥳 This was the final stop on his road to feeling better after tackling cardiac and kidney concerns—and now he’s almost ready for his next big adventure… adoption! 🏡💕 Interested in taking this mellow guy home? Keep an eye out for him on our adoptable animals page.

As for this cute photo? This is how Knick Knack stays cozy indoors when it’s 10 degrees outside—in the warmth of sunlight! ☀️
If your favorite part of the workday is showing ca If your favorite part of the workday is showing cat pics to your coworkers, you already have something in common with Tali. 😸

Tali is a Chicago-based foster with a big heart for cats. After her soulcat, Gilly, passed away a little over a year ago, Tali began fostering through shelters across Chicago—until she met (and eventually adopted) Tree House alum Baby Bear. 🐻

Baby Bear was the first FeLV+* cat Tali had ever fostered. Once he became a permanent resident, her foster capacity shifted to welcoming other FeLV+ cats—and that’s where Moonshine comes in. 🌙 Moonshine, a FeLV+ Tree House cat currently receiving treatment for FIP, is healing comfortably in Tali’s foster home.

Tali says fostering with Tree House has been deeply fulfilling, and we’ll gladly credit some of that to her curiosity and can-do attitude. Our team is always here with guidance and support—but Tali brings the openness and enthusiasm that make great foster matches possible.

Thinking about fostering but not quite sure? Tali’s advice: “Go for it!” Along the way, she learned that kittens aren’t exactly her speed—and that each foster experience helps you find the right match for you.

This sibling duo first touched down on our adoption floor as kittens way back in 2013, then spent years happily together with their human. Last October, they made a return trip—and now, at 12 years old, they’re enjoying a much-needed senior-style staycation in foster care 😌🧳.

This #BetterTogether vacation package includes:

🖤 Belize (the black “void”): Shy at first, but once she warms up, she’s all about gentle pets. Big fan of sturdy cardboard boxes—classic cat behavior.

🤍 Honduras (the gray & white guy): A bit more outgoing and known cuddlebug in his previous home. We know he’s ready to choose a new favorite human.

Honduras is currently getting some extra TLC for thyroid and tummy issues with help from our amazing #VetMed staff 🩺💙. Once he’s feeling his best and their routine is set, this mellow, loving pair will be available for adoption.

Dreaming of a Happy Ending Tail with two sweet senior cats? Keep an eye on our adoption page 👀🐾
Gnarly's Happy Ending Tail. Scene 1. Take 1. Actio Gnarly's Happy Ending Tail. Scene 1. Take 1. Action! 🎬️

When Gnarly was found by two special effects crew members filming for NBC's Chicago PD, he looked like an extra from a fight scene with a large wound on his chest. Despite his rough condition, Gnarly was friendly with the crew and neighbors in Calumet Park, who confirmed he was a local stray. 🐈️

Between the wound on his chest and the cold, rainy forecast ahead, his finders knew that Gnarly needed to come inside and get medical attention. At Tree House, our clinic staff suspected that Gnarly's wound came from fighting with other cats, given his feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and unneutered status. After his neuter procedure and wound cleaning, he spent a few weeks resting and recovering under the care of a foster. 🧡

When Gnarly returned to the adoption floor, his Chicago PD crew was ready for a reunion. "He looked so much healthier!" said his two finders. "His fur was so clean, and he was so friendly with us—we like to think he remembered us, too."

As fate would have it, Gnarly was once again brought home by the pair—but with an official adoption status this time! Today, Gnarly is a happy, adventurous cat who prefers to watch Chicago PD from the comfort of his couch rather than his old behind-the-scenes view. 🛋️📺️
COUS COUS UPDATE! 🧡🐾 When you’re the oldest cat COUS COUS UPDATE! 🧡🐾

When you’re the oldest cat in the Tree House family (a very impressive 17 years young!), the best news is simple: you’re enjoying each day as it comes.

Cous Cous joined us last summer from the suburbs—any Buffalo Grove folks here?—after being found outdoors with only a Tree House microchip from 2011 and no guardian to be found. She’s since been spending time in foster care while our team determined whether adoption or hospice would be the best next step.

And wow, has she made herself at home. Cous Cous is a champion cuddler, happily parking herself on a warm chest for as long as she can. She’s also picked up a few very refined hobbies—pottery and piano included. 🎹🎨

After recently recovering from a urinary tract infection (yep, cats can get UTIs too!), she’s headed in soon for a vet check to see if she might be ready for adoption. Fingers crossed—but no matter what, Cous Cous is deeply loved everywhere she goes. 💕
Have you seen our outdoor colony shelter? 👀 It’s t Have you seen our outdoor colony shelter? 👀 It’s tucked into the far corner of our parking lot!

A few years ago, this was home base for our own working cats who had been trapped, neutered, vaccinated, and placed in our outdoor colony. Our cat care technicians fed the colony on a daily schedule, making sure everyone had a safe, reliable place to land.

While we don’t currently have a resident colony, we still keep this little shelter up and running. During cold winters like now, it offers insulated hideaways, a heated water bowl, and meals served at the same time every day. That food often helps passing cats in need of warmth or a nutritious meal. 💚

Just like the meals served to #TreeHouseCats in our adoption center—keeping them healthy and strong before adoption—and in our medical ward, where food provides essential nourishment during recovery, this food is generously provided by our feeding partner, Purina.

Next time you visit—whether for a spay/neuter appointment, a café date, or to adopt a furry friend—take a short walk and check out our colony shelter! 🐾
