Buckles

Conditions: obesity, pancreatitis

Buckles is a part of the all-canned feeding program to lose weight.
Buckles’ pancreatitis and obesity may have pre-disposed him toward diabetes. Diabetes may be resolved, perhaps even prevented, by a low-carbohydrate diet. Obese cats are also at risk of hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) if they stop eating for any length of time, as little as a day or two. A high-protein diet decreases the risk of fatty liver disease.

Lincolnetta

Conditions: obesity, weak joints, rectal infections

Lincolnetta is a part of the all-canned feeding program to lose weight.
Lincolnetta’s obesity has caused her issues with weak joints and infections from her inability to groom properly. Studies indicate a low-carbohydrate canned diet may be more effective for proper weight loss while maintaining muscle mass than a “Lite” low-calorie/high-fiber diet.

Indie

Conditions: chronic diarrhea (IBD)

Indie is a part of the all-canned feeding program to control her diarrhea and gain/maintain weight.
There is evidence that grains and other carbohydrates may exacerbate gastro-intestinal disorders. A high-protein/low-carbohydrate diet may also assist in maintenance of muscle mass.

Jessika

Conditions: hyper-thyroidism, potassium deficiency

Jessika is a part of the all-canned feeding program to maintain her hydration and maintain weight.
As an older kitty, Jessika has to be monitored for adequate hydration. As canned food is naturally higher in moisture, it may keep her better hydrated and decrease the need for sub-q fluid treatments. A high-protein canned diet may also help her maintain her weight.

Reba and Winona

Conditions: stomatitis, mammary tumors (surgically removed)

Reba and Winona are a part of the all-canned feeding program to maintain their hydration and gain/maintain weight.
Reba and Winona had recurrent mammary tumors that were surgically removed. High-protein diets may be beneficial in cases of cancer. Reba and Winona also have stomatitis, or inflammation of the mouth tissue. Canned food may be much more comfortable for them to consume than dry food, which may irritate the tissue. As older kitties, Reba and Winona also have to be monitored for adequate hydration. As canned food is naturally higher in moisture, it may keep them better hydrated and decrease the need for sub-q fluid treatments. Reba and Winona have had some issues with weight loss, and a high-protein canned diet helps them maintain their weight.

Princess Lea

Conditions: obesity, rectal infections

Princess Lea is a part of the all-canned feeding program to lose weight.
Princess Lea’s obesity has caused her issues with infections from her inability to groom properly. Studies indicate a low-carbohydrate canned diet may be more effective for proper weight loss while maintaining muscle mass than a “Lite” low-calorie/high-fiber diet.

Peg

Conditions: obesity

Peg is a part of the all-canned feeding program to lose weight.
Studies indicate a low-carbohydrate canned diet may be more effective for proper weight loss while maintaining muscle mass than a “Lite” low-calorie/high-fiber diet.

Nessie (adopted!)

Conditions: obesity

Nessie was a part of the all-canned feeding program to lose weight.
Studies indicate a low-carbohydrate canned diet may be more effective for proper weight loss while maintaining muscle mass than a “Lite” low-calorie/high-fiber diet.

Tiny (adopted!)

Tiny, a large and handsome boy, was one of the cats in the canned-only feeding program. He’d had a history of urinary tract stones, but had no recurrence while on the canned-only diet. His new adopters have continued with his all-wet feeding regime and they report that Tiny is still crystal-free!

Rumor (adopted!)

Conditions: stomatitis, hyperesthesia syndrome

Rumor was part of the all-canned feeding program to maintain her hydration and gain/maintain weight.
Rumor also had stomatitis, or inflammation of the mouth tissue. Canned food may be much more comfortable for her to consume than dry food, which may irritate the tissue. As an older kitty, Rumor also had to be monitored for adequate hydration. As canned food is naturally higher in moisture, it may keep her better hydrated and decrease the need for sub-q fluid treatments.Rumor had some issues with weight loss, and a high-protein canned diet helps her maintain her weight
