Text Box: One Great Cause

Tree House Animal Foundation is a humane organization that promotes the inherent value of every animal and strives to educate the public about proper and responsible animal care, with a focus on the care and placement of stray cats with special physical and emotional needs. We are committed to finding every healthy and treatable animal a home.

Tree House was founded in 1971 to help save homeless dogs and cats. To date we have found homes for nearly 14,000 cats. In addition to our successful rehabilitation and adoption programs, we offer many other valuable programs and services, including our Free Spay/Neuter Program, a Pet Loss Grief Support Group, a Humane Investigations Team, a Youth Volunteer Program, Animal-Assisted Therapy, a Behavior Hotline, a Pet Food Pantry, and an Education Outreach Program.

We recently acquired a new building in the Bucktown neighborhood where we plan on establishing a high-volume, low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic. We performed over 700 spays and neuters last year in our current clinic, and our goal is to substantially increase that number every year. We were also selected by the Chicago Animal Shelter Alliance (CASA) to be the lead agency to secure the Maddie’s Fund Community Grant, which is a collaborative effort between the city’s shelters and veterinary hospitals with the goal of providing a home for every adoptable animal, and ultimately to drastically reduce our city’s euthanasia rates.
