Nope, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you—t Nope, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you—there is something going on with these cuties’ eyes. 👀⁠ ⁠ Meet the Bug Litter: June Bug, Beetle Bug, Lady Bug, and Dragonfly. Found as strays in Garfield Park with severe eye infections, these kittens were rescued by our foster volunteer Lora—who didn’t hesitate to bring them home for some much-needed TLC. 🥰⁠ ⁠ That’s the beauty of our foster network: they don’t just open their homes—they advocate for cats wherever they are, from sidewalks to sofa cushions. 🌳🏠️⁠ ⁠ With dedicated care, our four little bugs are already showing signs of improvement. Some may need enucleation surgery (the removal of one or both eyes), which means they’ll have limited or no vision—but it won’t stop them from living full, joyful lives and finding their #HappyEndingTails when they’re ready for adoption. ✔️⁠ ⁠ Want to be part of the team that makes stories like this possible? Umami really is the fifth taste of happiness! This Umami really is the fifth taste of happiness! This Tree House cat left her shy girl era behind and is living her best Happy Ending Tail life. 😜⁠ ⁠ When she came to us in March from Naples, Florida, Umami was tiny, mighty, and a bit unsure of the world. But after landing in her new home, she’s been soaking up the love, and it’s been a pure glow-up ever since! ✨️⁠ ⁠ Umami was steadily learning to trust people and make feline friends, but everything changed when she met Skunky. Now, they’re basically inseparable and spend their time together syncing up for couch naps, dining side by side, and lounging in the cat tree.🐈‍⬛🌸⁠ ⁠ Watching Umami blossom has been the absolute sweetest transformation! Each day she gets a little braver, with Skunky by her side cheering her on (and maybe slipping her a treat or two). Her new family says she’s the happiest cat, and it’s easy to see why!
Because of you, we get to save kitties like Shores Because of you, we get to save kitties like Shoresy—tiny fighters with rough beginnings and big hopes for a Happy Ending Tail. 💚⁠ ⁠ Shoresy was found in a back alley by Justina, one of our incredible fosters and occasional relief vet tech at our Veterinary Wellness Center. This brave ginger kitten came in with a fractured leg and pelvis, plus a painful open wound near his hip. Ouch is an understatement!⁠ ⁠ He’s now splinted, wrapped up, and healing with daily bandage changes (and a little help from manuka honey magic 🍯). While we continue to monitor his pelvic injury, Shoresy is safe, cared for, and surrounded by love.⁠ ⁠ We couldn’t do this without you. Here’s how to keep your cool and help your cats chill:⁠ ⁠ 💧 Fresh water, always — Indoors or outdoors, make sure your cats have access to clean, cool water. For community cats, use ceramic bowls (not metal!) and keep them in the shade.⁠ ⁠ 🧼 Brush it out — Regular brushing helps get rid of excess fur that traps heat.⁠ ⁠ 🧊 DIY cooling station — Try a wet towel or wrap an ice pack in a tea towel and place it where your cat naps.⁠ ⁠ 🌿 Shade is everything — Especially for outdoor cats. Meet Allison: a true Chicagoan, “cool aunt,” a Meet Allison: a true Chicagoan, “cool aunt,” and even cooler foster mom to #TreeHouseCats. 💚⁠ ⁠ After losing her beloved cat Winona, Allison wasn’t ready to adopt again—but she still had love (and space!) to give. She turned her home, and even her social circle, into a faux cat café with her first litter of fosters. Since then, she’s opened her doors to cats needing time to heal, space to grow, or just a temporary place to crash. 🏡🐾⁠ ⁠ One of those cats was Foggy, who needed a calm spot to recover after dental surgery. Allison made sure he got his meds, cuddles, and a few photos for his adoption profile—likely the very photos his future adopters fell in love with. Even after he moved on, she remained his biggest fan, reminding the world how special he was. Not long after, Foggy found a loving adoptive family. 💕⁠ ⁠ It’s that kind of love that defines Allison’s approach to fostering. As she puts it, “That’s what makes a good foster—someone who loves cats. Did you know your cat might have a secret tattoo? Did you know your cat might have a secret tattoo? 💉⁠ ⁠ If your kitty is spayed or neutered, there’s a good chance they’ve got a small blue-green line tattooed on their belly. Many vets, including those on #TeamTreeHouse, use this mark to show a cat has been fixed. ✂️⁠ ⁠ Why the ink? 🤔⁠ If a cat’s medical records are missing, a tattoo helps to avoid unnecessary surgery. Once the belly is shaved, the tattoo reveals their status—no guessing or unnecessary procedures needed. 👍️⁠ ⁠ For community cats in TNR programs, you’ll often see a tipped left ear instead—an easy way to tell from a distance that they’re already fixed.

Mr. Sweater is just like any other cat, despite hi Mr. Sweater is just like any other cat, despite his Feline Leukemia (FeLV) diagnosis. 😻⁠ ⁠ In his foster home, he’s known as a “Velcro cat.” He will stick right by you: If he can’t hang out right on your lap—his preferred place—he will happily lay right next to you or right on top of whatever you’re doing. 😴⁠ ⁠ He is just as sleepy as he looks! His favorite place to nap is a sunny couch, which is the next best thing after a warm human companion. ☀️ But when the sun goes down, Mr. Sweater will start to zoom and chase his favorite jingle ball up and down the hallway. And after dinner, he’s ready for bed time with you. 🌙⁠ ⁠ In honor of Feline Leukemia Day, we want to shine the spotlight on our deserving FeLV cats like Mr. Sweater who are waiting patiently for a loving family to adopt them. But an open-admission shelter is no place for a mom and her rookies — too much stress and risk of disease can strike them out early. Luckily, our incredible foster community stepped up to the plate and gave this team a safe, cozy home base to grow and thrive!⁠ ⁠ Now you’re up to bat! ⚾️⁠ Step into the game and help nursing cats and kittens like Sox and her crew by grabbing a ticket to a Chicago White Sox game!
